Antony Brown (sometimes credited as Anthony Brown) (8 May 1929 to 22 March 2021) is an actor who played Slaten in Gold.

Sometimes credited as "Anthony Brown," but this would appear to be the result of careless printing. Due to this confusion of his spelling of his names, reports of his death in 2001 were caused by confusion with his newsreader namesake. Actually, actor was said by his Old Vic colleagues to be still sending out Christmas cards in 2017.[1]

Career[]

Graduating from RADA in December 1955. went onto to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the National Theatre in 1974. His numerous stage works included Love Labour's Lost, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, Othello, Measure for Measure, Toad of Toad Hall, Cymbeline, As You Like It, Julius Caesar, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, King John, Much Ado About Nothing and Henry VI, The Browning Version, Harlequinade, The Elephant Man and Ting Tang Mine.

Television credits include Compact, No Hiding Place, The Power Game, Coronation Street, Love for Lydia, Hammer House of Horror episode, Mark of Satan; The Jewel in the Crown, as Major Braithwaite in several episodes of Drummonds; Lovejoy; Soldier, Soldier.

Film roles included The Hi-Jackers, Sweeney!, Silver Dream Racer, Give My Regards to Broad Street and Brazil.
