Ginka was a Federation officer serving aboard Servalan's command ship. Under her orders, he fired the ionic beam that disabled Pilot Four Zero's ship, allowing him to be taken aboard and infected with a virus. As the ship followed him to Auron, it became clear that Ginka was largely ignoring the ship's captain Deral, reporting directly to Servalan and taking his orders from her. At her request, he had Clinician Franton, the daughter of the creator of Auron's cloning process who had succeeded him as head of the replication plant, brought to the ship to be cured.
Deral attempted to confront Ginka over his insubordination but Ginka made no indication of being cowed, suggesting Deral was made captain ahead of him because of his connection but that Servalan still valued good officers. He provided Servalan and Deral with isolation suits from the next batch of patients but made no effort to cure them as per his orders. He then led an assault team that took control of the Auron command centre, capturing Avon, Cally and Tarrant, and had the Auron leaders taken out and shot.
Ginka volunteered to teleport aboard the Liberator and capture the ship but Servalan sent Deral instead, although he was quickly taken prisoner. When Avon and the others escaped, Ginka fired off a salvo that destroyed the now empty command centre and tracked them heading for the replication plant. He was frustrated when Servalan authorised only a minor bombardment and then to cease fire altogether when they reached the plant, and horrified when she then ordered him to lead a ground assault. Instead, he tricked her into believing that Deral had replaced her genetic material with his own, so she would give the order to destroy the plant. Ginka opened fire but Servalan telepathically sensed the death of her cloned children in the plant's destruction and realised he had lied to her, killing him with the push of a button.
