Interceptors were rockets (TV: Seek-Locate-Destroy) or ships (TV: Stardrive) that were launched in pursuit of targeted ships. These were Federation ships although one instance where they were implied to be non-Federation in origin. (TV: Headhunter).
The term was sometimes used interchangeably to describe pursuit ships but no further details were expanded upon.
Reference to interceptors were made several times:
- Interceptor rockets were launched from Centero as the Liberator departed, and Zen stated that it would take seven hours to outrange their detectors. Once these were outranged the interceptors underwent self-destruction. (TV: Seek-Locate-Destroy)
- Gan reported five interceptors orbiting the planet when Liberator arrived to take up orbit. Mark 4 interceptors approaching at Standard by 2 later detected Liberator at a range of two million spacials.(TV: Project Avalon)
- Interceptors patrolling the Kairos area were detected by Liberator at a range of 8 million spacials. (TV: The Harvest of Kairos)
- Three Federation ships described as interceptors looked very much like pursuit ships. (TV: Stardrive)
- Vila referred to a "a flock of interceptors" launched from Pharos as Scorpio prepared to leave orbit. (TV: Headhunter)
