Sherm was a member of Bayban's crew who acted as his right-hand man. He had an adversarial relationship with Kerril. He was blamed by Bayban for a failed attempt to blast into Keezarn's vault and tried to pass the blame onto Norl, with Kerril shooting his gun out of his hand to stop him killing him, and also stepping in to stop him killing two hostages.
Sherm checked on Vila's lack of progress in opening the vault. He was confused that Vila and Kerril disappeared despite all the guards being in place and was threatened with death by Bayban if he failed to find them. He briefly encountered Tarrant and Dayna in the corridor, then ended up fighting Avon and Cally with Bayban. He dragged Cally out of the room to kill her, only for her to produce a concealed weapon and kill him instead. (C: City at the Edge of the World)
